Compare and contrast the ways in which viewpoints and ideologies are encoded in Woman and Adbusters. Woman and Adbusters display completely different ideologies. Adbusters have an anti-capitalist, complex and subversive ideology. Whereas Woman presents a singular, stereotypical and patriarchal ideology. Adbusters doesn't have any adverts and Woman focusses on stereotypical views. Ideologies are the belief's and views of the producer.  One way adbusters encode their ideology is through the double page spread showing a person in a bath and a Zucchetti tap. The mise-en-scene of her hands in a gesture is a symbolic code for her begging for water however the image on the right shows an incredibly expensive tap which is a binary opposition showing the difference between the rich and the poor. Compare and contrast the ways in which viewpoints and ideologies are encoded in Woman and Adbusters.  Adbusters ideology and viewpoints encoded = anti-capitalist - capitalist society is based on money and hierarchy.  anti-consumerist - anti-buying things and not defining yourself through buying things left wing - people that buy Adbusters = labour party anarchist - destructive and anti - destroying capitalist by destroying ads = parody, culture jamming, brandalism. the world has many problems we should feel guilty  we are the reason as to why the world has problems people buy things because of the brand consumerism is making poverty worse - society is making people poor.  culture jamming preferred reading of this = we are supposed to feel guilty.  directing blame onto the audience "save the planet - kill yourselves" They are inconclusive environmentalists - they want to save the planet   the magazine is complex - deliberately trying to challenge the audienc

The adbusters website is very confusing and difficult to use. This makes it unconventional because it should be easy to navigate around the website. "Blackspot shoes" made by Adbusters are a type of merchandise to make money. These shoes are actually very similar to the shoes they criticise e.g Lou Boutines. Buy nothing day: held on the same day as black Friday where the public are challenged to not buy anything for 24 hours.
